Dora Black 6th February 2010

David's mum again. We wanted to thank everyone who has put memories of David on this memorial. John has uploaded photos from our own albums of David as a child, David in his first leathers, the jacket he pestered us to buy in Florence on a family visit when he was 14, and excited by all the motor-scooters in that city, went round revving up imaginary ones all the time, much to our irritation. And there are photos of him in school uniform with his father, with his nephew, Matthew when his family went to visit David and Mandy in Spain recently, of Mandy and David on their wedding day and many more. Friends and relatives have reminded us of David's caring side when emergencies occured - like when a cousin was looking after the children for us at our seaside flat and got tonsillitis. David, aged 11 looked after her and his younger brother and sister, with devotion and skill until we could get back from London. Or the time when we were in a borrowed house in France - David and his siblings being looked after by an aupair while we went off for a meal. The lights fused. Panic from au-pair. David marches into a neighbour "L'electricitie, il ne marche pas" he announces (all of 10 years old) and they fixed it!
