Thoughts

Although I learned of Dave's passing a while back, I only just came across this site. I knew Dave for a few years up until 1993 when I left the UK. I have fond memories of track-days we did together, and an amazing trip down to a 24 hour bike race in the south of France, returning via the Alps. My most vivid image of him is the time he high-sided his bike ahead of me at Castle Combe, and lay there right bang-smack in the middle of the track stunned unconscious and groaning with the people whizzing by either side. Thankfully he was ok, but it was bizarrely hilarious at the time. Dave will be missed. Ian Fyfe, San Francisco, California

I'm late to the tragic news of Dave's death, but would like to leave my message for him here all the same. I first met Dave just after he'd set up 'Red Baron Motorcycles' in London. I was the London rep for MCN at the time, and he had an infectious level of energy and enthusiasm. Then came FWR, which changed the rules for the way bike tyres are sold. Great prices, a super-friendly service and it was never too much trouble to look at other little problems while the tyres were being changed. I'll always remember Dave as a super-friendly no-nonsense 'good bloke'. My deep condolences to his family and close friends. Dave was much-loved. RIP Dave, you left a great impression. I hope FWR goes from strength to strength in your honour. Paul Hood

I am looking back on the time and thinking about many things that I am very proud to have shared with Dave and everything has been pretty good. Right now in this three last days I have specially remembered him due to our "feria de mayo" which is a party we celebrate twice a year (may and september) which last three or four days each, and It is the first feria he is missing and yesterday night we were out (my wife and my two kids) and we missed much to our friend with his particular way of breaking the golden rules and happy while he is doing it laughing noisily and warmly and everyone around at the next tables turning their heads around to see what happen. Dave let me tell you something, it is no good for my liver that you have gone cause when I drink I have to do double one for you one for me and I think many of your friends do that way at least some of them I know. whereever you stay we think of you and we miss you.
